LandBank Invests For Mainframe Storage Disk Upgrade Project

Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) recently upgraded their mainframe storage disk to accommodate their rapidly increasing clientele that ranges from local government employees to Overseas Filipino Workers. The bank’s database currently contains over 2.8 million accounts with their newly forged partnerships with foreign banks and several local government units.
The Mainframe Storage Disk Upgrade Project was done to meet the challenges of the aggressive customer-expansion programs that LBP has lined-up for the next five years. With the set-up of more remittance centers spanning Asia, Europe, Australia and Middle East plus the intensified activities to provide services for payroll and benefits disbursements to both LGU employees and their constituents, the bank anticipates millions of customer information and transaction files to maximize their IT storage systems.
“We have been very aggressive this year with our customer expansion programs. This is something that we will pursue earnestly in the coming years and we want our bank to be ready and well-able to handle the growth of data without choking up our IT infrastructure. One of our priorities was to upgrade our storage and we needed a service provider who can do this for us in a very timely manner. We are very happy with our decision to acquire the services of Total Information Management (TIM) as they were able to deliver what we needed in a short amount of time,” says FVP Alan V. Bornas, Landbank's IT Head and CIO.
LBP tapped the services of TIM to replace the bank's existing mainframe storage system. The IT firm handled full implementation which included supply of hardware infrastructure as well as installation and integration of the new storage disks to the bank’s existing storage system. The mainframe storage upgrade project, an undertaking which usually takes between 3 to 6 months to finish, was completed in just two (2) weeks. According to LBP officials, the integration of the new disks with their existing storage infrastructure went through without any difficulty.
