The Future is Here: Discussing Multi-Cloud and SDDC with VMware and TIM

Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) and Virtual Cloud Technology were the highlights of the lunch and learn workshop initiated by VMware in collaboration with Total Information Management Corporation held 3rd of October 2018.

With 45 participants from select companies, the activity was officially opened with welcoming remarks delivered by TIM’s President, Mr. Sunver Bastes wherein he disclosed TIM’s Business Recovery Centers’ unique critical advantages such as strategic location, top-of-the line facility equipment manned by certified engineers, and most importantly TIM’s passion-driven commitment to deliver total IT solutions that ultimately help its customers succeed.

Afterwards, VMware’s Cloud Management Director for the Asia Pacific/Japan Region Mr. Archie Wilson provided a comprehensive overview of SDDC and how users can leverage the added security, availability, and agility it incorporates to business and IT operations. Mr. Archie stated how the future IT architecture is leaning further into utilizing hybrid and multi-cloud technology that enables:

  • Significant increase in application availability, performance, and security
  • Passage to a rich repository of resources and access to any cloud
  • Infrastructure optimization with highly customized capacity and performance

This is followed by a presentation from Mr. Jenson Chong, vSan Manager for the Southeast Asia and Korea Region, on which he tackled the key considerations on transitioning to a Hyperconverged Infrastructure. Through HCI, businesses improve operational efficiency, hasten agility attained through cloud utility, and enhance cost-effectiveness when it comes to server expenses.

To demonstrate, Mr. Jenson boasted how the average 86-day timeframe for traditional transition to virtual cloud was significantly reduced to merely 4.5 days with VMware Cloud Foundation. Offering one of the fastest speeds in the market, VMware now boasts 15,000 HCI customers since 2013.  

Cloud Management Principal Specialist Mr. Sean Lim delved deeper into VMware’s cloud solutions as he presents how vRealize and vCloud Suites, along with the Cloud Automation Software, take operational efficiency to the next level by maximized cost utility, data mobility and security, and high customization opportunity as opposed to the usage of traditional public cloud.

Lastly, Partner Business Manager for SDDC Mr. Gaurav Sharma talked about Virtual Cloud Network and its mission of building the business fabric of the digital enterprise. The new VMware Network Virtualization and Security Platform delivers consistent, pervasive connectivity, and intrinsic security across data centers, enterprise branches, cloud, and NSX edge.
